1. Local Processing and Media Privacy
When you load video files or transcribe spoken dialog:
- We do not upload, copy, inspect, or store your personal media files on external servers.
- Offline speech recognition is performed through our embedded local intelligence engine running directly on your computer hardware.
- Audio segmentation, dialog slicing, and visual frame capture take place entirely within your local device environment.
- Generated study cards and deck files are created locally and exported directly into your Anki software.
2. Cloud Speech and Translation Services
For users who choose to engage optional cloud capabilities for speech recognition and multi-language translation assistance:
- Selected audio segments or text prompts are sent through secure encrypted connections to our cloud service solely to generate the requested output in real time.
- Media processed through our cloud service is evaluated transiently in memory, is never stored on disk, and is never used to train machine learning models.
- As soon as the transcription or translation is delivered back to your application, the processing session terminates immediately.
- Cloud services are entirely optional, and users can work completely offline using local processing whenever desired.
3. Website Information and Diagnostic Logs
When you visit our website, standard web server logs may note basic diagnostic information such as IP address, browser type, referring page, and timestamp. This data is reviewed solely for system security, network diagnostics, and traffic monitoring.
We do not deploy intrusive third party tracking tools across external websites, nor do we sell personal data to advertisers.
The desktop application may periodically check our release server to verify whether a newer application build is available. This request sends only the existing version number and operating system family such as Windows, macOS, or Linux to deliver the correct update package.
4. Payment Processing and License Activation
When purchasing a license for Video2Anki:
- Transactions are completed through established, compliant payment providers.
- We do not handle or store credit card numbers or financial account details on our servers.
- We receive only necessary order records such as email address, transaction date, and generated license key to validate and activate your software.
5. Protection of Minors
Video2Anki does not knowingly collect personal information from individuals under thirteen years of age. Because the desktop application functions locally without mandatory profile creation, learners can use the application safely under family or educational guidance.
6. Data Ownership and Deletion Rights
In accordance with modern privacy standards:
- All generated flashcard files, notes, and media slices exist on your own filesystem under your exclusive control.
- You can remove all application caches, stored settings, and export folders at any time by clearing the working directory or uninstalling the application.
